About the role

American Traveler is hiring a CT/X-Ray Technologist for a critical access hospital radiology department in Luray, Virginia. This is a 13-week travel assignment starting September 28, 2026, with a 3x12 weekend schedule.

The radiology department is located in a 25-bed critical access hospital and serves a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric patients. The role requires performing both CT and general radiology exams, including portable procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT and x-ray procedures according to protocol, adjusting positioning, slice thickness, and IV contrast administration as needed.
  • Explain procedures to patients and review contrast history questionnaires prior to exams.
  • Administer contrast injections as ordered by physicians.
  • Report critical findings to appropriate personnel and assist physicians with invasive procedures as necessary.
  • Enter data into HIS and use RIS to capture patient visits and charge information.
  • Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and National Patient Safety Goals policies.
  • Communicate with manager or department director on productivity or performance issues.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain competence.
  • Perform general diagnostic and portable radiography procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Maintain high accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.
  • Work in a stressful environment while ensuring patient safety and care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CT and Radiologic Technologist.
  • Completion of an AMA-accredited Radiology Technology program.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA only) and ARRT certification.
  • VA state license required if applicable.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed.
  • Knowledge of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
  • Must live outside a 65-mile radius of the facility to be considered.

Schedule

  • 3x12-hour shifts, Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
  • Every weekend coverage required.
  • No on-call requirements.

Additional Information

  • Uses EPIC EMR.
  • Caribbean Blue scrub color required per facility dress code policy.
