Travel Center Site General Manager
Job Overview
The Site General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of daily site operations, including fuel, convenience retail, and QSR/food service, to deliver consistent profitability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of daily site operations, including fuel, convenience retail, and QSR/food service, to deliver consistent profitability and operational excellence
Budget and forecast P&L lines while executing company merchandise margin strategy and fuel margin/pricing strategy
Analyze food cost, labor cost, shrink, and waste in real time and make immediate adjustments to protect and improve profitability
Maintain high standards for store image, customer service, food safety, freshness, and overall site cleanliness (lot, pumps, restrooms, and showers)
Establish and maintain rigorous fuel safety and food quality/safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Conduct inventory audits and implement effective inventory controls for both the travel center and QSR operations
Provide strong leadership to all site-level management (including QSR managers) by modeling expected performance and directing activities to meet or exceed budget targets
Hire, train, coach, mentor, and work side-by-side with all store employees and managers to build a high-performing, engaged team
Build and sustain a strong culture of accountability while maintaining low employee turnover
Hire, train, and coach team members to deliver excellent customer service and foster a positive, enthusiastic staff
Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as city, county, state, and federal regulations related to age-restricted sales, food safety, and fuel compliance
Hold regular communication meetings with all employees and management on safety, employment issues, store goals, and performance
Timely and accurately complete daily paperwork, deposits, vendor receiving/verification, and work schedules
Maintain strong, professional relationships with vendors and suppliers
Demonstrate initiative in continuously improving store performance, employee performance, and personal development
Requirements
5+ years of proven experience in Truck-Stop and QSR Operations Management with a strong track record of success
Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule of 50+ hours per week and be "on call" for store needs as they arise
Must successfully complete required certifications, including (but not limited to): ServSafe or equivalent Food Manager Safety program, ABC / Age-Restricted Product Certification, UST Operator Certification
