About the role

13-week travel assignment at a 252-bed, short-term acute-care Level III trauma center in New London, Connecticut. The department covers Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP), and Interventional Radiology, with a primary focus on Cath Lab and EP procedures.

Shift: 4×10-hour days (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), 40 hours per week. Call required every 5 days, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Room circulating, scrubbing, hemodynamic monitoring, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, and permanent/temporary pacemaker procedures
  • Assist with EP studies including arrhythmia induction, cardiac ablation, and AICD/pacemaker insertion and programming
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventory; adhere to infection control and sterile technique protocols
  • Procedures include LHC/RHC, PCI, STEMI response, temporary pacer, IABP insertion, Swan-Ganz catheterization, EP implants, ablations, and peripheral angiography
  • 1:1 patient ratio; charting in Epic

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty
  • ACLS and BLS certification required
  • ARRT certification required (license required if applicable)
  • One of the following certifications: CCI RCIS, CCI CVI, or CVI
  • Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
  • Experience with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
  • Skilled in accurate monitoring, equipment setup, EKG lead placement, access site prep, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Proficient in scrubbing and maintaining sterile field
  • One professional reference required
  • Flu vaccine required; no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required; exemptions for religious or medical reasons only

Additional Information

  • Local candidates not accepted if within 75 miles of the facility
  • Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
  • First-time travelers may be considered if candidate has experience at a large trauma center
  • Fluoroscopy equipment from Philips and Siemens, along with ultrasound and PACS systems
