About the role
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab Technologist with 2+ years of experience scrubbing heart caths and device implants for a 14-week day shift contract at an acute care facility in Snellville, Georgia.
This position serves an adult to geriatric patient population in a diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab with 3 procedure rooms and 5 beds, averaging 8–10 patients daily. Procedures include diagnostic cath, PCI, orbital atherectomy, IABP, Impella, and device implants. EP studies and ablations are not performed.
Equipment used includes GE Discovery, IABP, and Impella (CSI experience required). The facility uses Epic EMR (required) and Merge (preferred), along with Pyxis and SBAR.
Schedule
- 4x10 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Approximately 10 call days per month required
- Floating within the department and facility is expected, with the possibility of floating to a sister campus
- Travelers are expected to work major holidays that fall within their assignment period; if 1–2 holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested; if 3 holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered for approval
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No alternate shift or schedule change requests are permitted — the posted shift is firm
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; RTO must be finalized prior to offer and cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
Responsibilities
- Scrubbing and circulating for cardiac cath procedures, PCI, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, and device implants
- Hemodynamic monitoring and EKG lead placement
- Obtaining vitals and rhythm interpretation, including sinus node rhythms
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience, with scrubbing heart caths and device implants required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Active BLS, ACLS, and one of the following certifications: RCIS, RCES, or ARRT CV
- Experience with GE Discovery, IABP, Impella, and CSI required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in EKG lead placement, hemodynamic monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and sinus node rhythms required
- Pacemaker experience preferred
- License required if applicable
- Copies of all certifications listed in the position description required for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Candidates who have previously worked at or applied to this facility system must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have been cancelled or placed on a Do Not Return (DNR) list must complete one successful assignment outside of the facility system before reapplying
