About the role

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) registered nurse provides direct patient care following open‑heart surgery and heart transplant procedures, serves as a liaison between physicians, patients, and families, and ensures safe recovery in a high‑acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and monitor vital signs, promptly notifying physicians of significant changes.
• Provide daily care for patients recovering from open‑heart surgery and heart transplants.
• Educate patients’ families on ongoing care needs and post‑operative instructions.
• Act as a communication bridge between the medical team, patients, and their families.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with unit protocols.

Requirements

• Active RN license.
• Degree from an accredited nursing program.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• At least 18 months of recent experience in an acute‑care CVICU setting.
