About the role

Access Healthcare is seeking a travel Cardiac Sonographer for a 13-week assignment in Boston, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

  • Performs 2-dimensional, color Doppler and Doppler of the heart echocardiograms.
  • Performs stress and dobutamine echocardiograms, requiring a high level of knowledge to interpret and analyze test performance and results.
  • Must be proficient and knowledgeable in non-imaging continuous Doppler to perform effective results for diagnosing and imaging abnormal pathologies.
  • Must have mastered all phases of echocardiography to be proficient in diagnosing wall motion abnormalities, left ventricular regional wall abnormalities, pericardial and pleural effusions, connections of stenotic and regurgitant lesions, and congenital abnormalities.
  • Reviews the patient’s chart to obtain pertinent clinical history and accurately interpret and perform cardiac examinations.
  • Explains the procedure to the patient and positions them for the cardiac ultrasound examination.
  • Performs several portable studies a day, requiring the technician to mobilize the equipment.
  • Records and reviews test results for accuracy and prepares test reports.
  • Utilizes ancillary devices (video recorder and transducer) to obtain a permanent record of the cardiac examination.
  • Records, calculates, and plots known control values on technical instruments to ensure their reliability and accuracy in reporting out test results.
  • Maintains testing rooms in clean and orderly condition, including disposing of soiled linen, stocking necessary supplies, and cleaning equipment such as patient cables, transducers, and ultrasound machines.

Requirements

  • Proficient and knowledgeable in non-imaging continuous Doppler.
  • Mastered all phases of echocardiography.
  • Able to review and interpret test results and notify referring physicians or house officers of preliminary reports.
  • Able to explain the procedure to patients and position them for the cardiac ultrasound examination.
  • Able to perform several portable studies a day, requiring the technician to mobilize the equipment.
  • Able to maintain testing rooms in clean and orderly condition.
  • Able to clean equipment such as patient cables, transducers, and ultrasound machines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification in Echocardiography.
  • At least 1 year of experience in echocardiography.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Benefits

Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
