Travel Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist

Responsibilities

• Affirms the needs of patients and families undergoing invasive cardiac procedures, providing appropriate teaching, and making necessary referrals to ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborates with the patient/family and healthcare team to develop an individual plan of care using a holistic approach considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.
• Maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of the patient and utilizes critical thinking to make judgments.
• Completes competency evaluations for supply, monitoring, and scrub roles as appropriate.
• Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required in the administration of emergency medications used in the Cardiovascular Procedural Lab, including under the direct supervision of the physician, if appropriate based upon role and training.
• Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required to operate specialized equipment in the Cardiovascular Procedural Labs.
• Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in maintaining a clean environment and sterile procedure field.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of radiation safety and practice, including, but not limited to, the use of radiation protection devices and exposure levels for both the team member and patients.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of cardiovascular procedure experience.
• Two (2) years of conscious sedation experience, depending upon role.
• Complex cardiovascular procedure experience, which could include electrophysiology (EP), peripheral vascular, and/or structural heart procedures.
• Current licensure/certification in good standing to practice with one of the following: Radiology Technologist R.T.(R), Paramedic, or Dual licensure/certification may be required for certain markets for this position based upon states of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Previous experience and passing a competency test with 84% accuracy as required by the affiliates policy for administering procedural sedation.
• Cardiac Basic Rhythm interpretation skills and be able to pass a competency.
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) through ARRT.
• Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
• Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
• Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
• Epic Cupid Documentation, Hemodynamic Monitoring Documentation, and other relevant skills as required by the market.
