Job Summary

The organization is seeking a skilled Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist for a full-time position. This role involves supporting diagnostic and interventional procedures with a thorough understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology. The technician will assist with catheterizations, monitor procedures, and ensure patient safety throughout the process.

Position Description

  • Demonstrates understanding of cardiovascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology.
  • Assists with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff.
  • Responsible for special projects and committee participation.
  • Adheres to medical ethics in the role of the Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of electrocardiogram (ECG) and related terminology.
  • Recognizes waveform morphology and arrhythmias; responds as appropriate.
  • List and describe common cardiac pathologies, symptoms, and treatments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all cardiac medications, their pharmacokinetics, actions, indications, and dosages.
  • Recognizes abnormalities in laboratory values and alerts physicians accordingly.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and intervenes during cardiac arrest using Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) standards.
  • Maintains monitoring of diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures, differentiates between interventions, and understands the use of imaging and device technologies.
  • Explains indications and potential complications of therapies.
  • Identifies coronary anatomy and cardiac pressure waveforms, communicates findings, and calculates hemodynamic parameters.
  • Sets up supplies and monitors patient during procedures, including cardiac outputs and oxygen saturations.
  • Differentiates between types of interventions and understands associated devices.
  • Explains indications and potential complications of thrombolytic therapy for Acute Myocardial Infarction.
  • Utilizes fluoroscopy systems effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a cath/EP lab, capable of scrubbing for all types of heart catheterizations, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Certification requirements include either Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with interventional experience.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Merge Hemo documentation system.
  • Comfort working independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
