About the role

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing specialized nursing care within a seven-bed catheterization laboratory, supporting adult patients with either cardiac or vascular diagnoses. The RN will be responsible for monitoring and sedation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care in the Cardiac Cath Lab
• Monitor and sedate patients during procedures
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Ensure quality patient care in a fast-paced environment
• Float to nearby units such as University Hospital or Electrophysiology Lab if needed
• Participate in scheduled weekend call rotations (Friday/Saturday), one to two weeknight call shifts per week, and one to two call weekends every six weeks, responding within 30 minutes

Requirements

• Kentucky RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• 2+ years of Cath Lab experience (ICU or Cardiac Stepdown experience preferred, 1+ year of ICU experience acceptable)
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• RCIS (Registry of Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists) or Cardiovascular Intervention (CI) certification

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Minimum 36 hours per week
• Included in six-week cycles with scheduled call rotations

Orientation: 4-5 days of department and unit-specific orientation.

Clinical Support & Technology

• Clinical support: Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, RT 24/7, Hospitalists 24/7, Intensivists 24/7, Nurse Practitioners and Fellows, Cardiologists
• Technology/Equipment: Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Alaris IV Pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing system, McKesson Hemodynamic System, GE and Siemens C-arms
