About the role
The School Special Education Coordinator will oversee special education programs and services within the district, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This position requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of special education needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of special education programs and services
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding special education
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide guidance and support to special education teachers and staff
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the educational needs of students
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and agencies to support students
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education
Requirements
- Masters degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid teaching license in Special Education
- At least 3 years of experience working with students with disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications
- Experience with data management and analysis
- Knowledge of Section 504 and ADA compliance
- Experience with special education funding and resource allocation
