Travel Accountant (Austin)

This position is located within the Finance Travel Department at 101 E. 15th St, Austin, Texas. The expectation is that candidates will work full-time on-site. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.
About the role
The Travel Accountant II performs routine (journey-level) accounting work following standard procedures for the TWC Travel Department. Employees may also occasionally assist other staff in performing job duties of greater complexity. Works under moderate supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the departmental inbox by identifying and processing travel vouchers for digital archiving.
- Convert documentation into standardized PDF formats and maintain a systematically organized filing system.
- Review and audit travel and related documents for accuracy and compliance with rules and regulations.
- Classify, code, and post travel and related documents to financial systems.
- Maintain, post, and balance accounting and financial statements, records, documents, or reports.
- Research and assist in resolving discrepancies with vendor and employee travel and related transactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year and six months of full-time experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A license to practice as a certified public accountant in Texas will satisfy the minimum qualifications.
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Skills
- Experience with Adobe Professional editing and combining PDF documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft business software including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Access.
- Experience in accounting, auditing, reconciliations, business, or financial operations.
