About the role
The Trauma Education and Outreach Coordinator within the Lee Health Trauma System, leads the development and implementation of comprehensive trauma education and outreach programs for staff across all disciplines and facilities within a 5-county region. This role focuses on internal and external education to ensure staff competency, readiness, and alignment with current trauma standards of care. Collaborates with clinical leaders, trauma program staff, and multidisciplinary departments; identifies learning needs; develops curriculum; facilitates simulation-based training; and ensures compliance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Florida Department of Health trauma education requirements.
Responsibilities
- Strategically plan and implement trauma education and outreach programs for staff across all disciplines and facilities within a 5-county region.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders, trauma program staff, and multidisciplinary departments to identify learning needs and develop curriculum.
- Facilitate simulation-based training to enhance staff competency and readiness.
- Evaluate trauma education programs to ensure they are effective and aligned with current trauma standards of care.
- Ensure compliance with ACS and Florida DOH trauma education requirements.
- Design, deliver, and evaluate trauma education programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals across the continuum of care.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related healthcare field required. Master’s degree in nursing, Education, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of trauma, emergency, or critical care clinical experience required. Experience in trauma education, simulation, or clinical staff development preferred.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) provider required; instructor preferred; ATCN or TCAR instructor certification preferred.
- Current Florida RN license required.
- Familiarity with ACS and Florida DOH trauma standards, adult learning theory, and evidence-based education design.
