About the role

The successful candidate should be able to perform thorough history and physical assessment. Also, able to evaluate, assess, implement plans and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to critical illness or injury. Manage ventilator settings, vasopressors and solve complex clinical cases. Performs a variety of surgical procedures after privileging by Medical Staff to include: Chest Tube, Central Line, Arterial Lines, Bronchoscopy, and assist with bedside Tracheostomy and Percutaneous Gastrostomy Tube placement.

Responsibilities

  • Coverage of both Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Service lines
  • Surgical Critical Care coverage: 0630-1930 Mon-Sun
  • Trauma coverage: 0600-1900 Mon-Sun with overlapping clinic coverage
  • Every other Weekend, Holidays required
  • Primarily day shift coverage model with occasional to rare night coverage
  • Teaching opportunities with military PAs, residents and/or APP Fellows

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS preferred
  • Critical care experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse required
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required
  • Acute Care board certification required based upon population and acuity served
  • One year experience ACNP or AGANP required
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, master’s degree preferred
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred
  • One year experience required

Pay

Pay Range $54.90 - $82.35

Schedule

Schedule includes a mixed rotation of shifts covering weekdays, nights, swing, holidays and weekends. (Greater than 20% of FTE includes weekend and/or night coverage.)
