Trap & Skeet Range Worker

Part-time/Seasonal position at the Harry A. Koch Trap and Skeet range.

About the Role

This position involves working with the supervisor in the overall operation and activities of the facility. Candidates must possess knowledge of firearms use, care, and safety, as well as City policies regarding accidents and incidents. Basic first aid, CPR, and AED knowledge are required. The role includes conducting tournaments, maintaining records, and providing customer service to facility participants.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the concession area and equipment.
• Plan, arrange, and conduct programmed activities and special events in a safe manner.
• Take reservations and collect fees.
• Ensure the safety of participants utilizing the rifle range.
• Operate trap and skeet machines.
• Provide basic instruction to participants on equipment use.
• Assist the supervisor in the overall operation of the facility.
• Conduct safety checks to ensure facilities are hazard-free.
• Perform light custodial duties in and around the facility and grounds.
• Secure the building according to specified procedures.
• Order, pick up, and distribute supplies and equipment.
• Provide customer service and respond to inquiries and complaints.
• Maintain daily records and inventory.
• Prepare weekly and/or monthly calendars of activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
• If age 19 or older, prepare, sell, and serve food and beverages, including alcohol.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 (19 to serve alcohol).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work varied times, including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of facility operations, firearms safety, and basic first aid/CPR/AED.
• Ability to conduct tournaments and special events.
• Ability to prepare and maintain records and compile reports.
• Ability to operate a cash register and make correct change.
• Effective communication with participants and co-workers.
• Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds, crawl in trap houses, and move about the facility constantly.

Conditions of Employment

• Proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or authorization to work is required.
• The City reserves the right to conduct criminal history, driving record, reference, and credit checks.
• Successfully passing a criminal background review and reference check is required.
• If applicable, passing a driving record review, pre-employment drug test, hearing test, and back screening may be required.
• Employees under age 16 must provide a certified Nebraska Department of Labor Employment Certificate.

Pay range depends on experience.
