Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143-bed acute care facility which offers a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care. Rutherford Regional is dedicated to providing patients with a full range of services to meet your healthcare needs. We provide our services in a caring, professional environment through the teamwork of our medical staff and employees.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from the Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Outpatient Services, and other designated areas throughout the facility
- Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including those requiring oxygen, IV pumps, monitors, and other specialized equipment
- Assist in operating room turnover by cleaning between cases, moving equipment, and restocking supplies
- Communicate effectively with surgical, anesthesia, nursing, and support staff to coordinate patient movement and room readiness
- Follow strict infection control, safety, patient privacy, and hospital protocols during all transport and room turnover activities
- Deliver specimens, equipment, and supplies to appropriate departments in a timely manner
- Observe and report patient concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to appropriate personnel
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Previous CNA experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds and operate/move equipment and supplies safely
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range; ability to reach overhead, sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and support staff
- Ability to remain calm, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively in fast-paced or stressful perioperative environments
