General Summary
Performs activities related to transportation of patients. Follows established safety guidelines and uses appropriate devices when transporting patients. Provides messenger services on request.
Responsibilities
- Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed.
- Affords clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers using appropriate body mechanics to perform patient lifts.
- Affords care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Performs dispatching duties such as receiving transport requests, dispatching available transporters based on established priorities, coordinating transports to minimize delays and maintaining appropriate documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Work Experience: Less than 1 year
- Relevant experience.
