Transporter

Primary Job Functions

• Transport consumers to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, and/or treatments
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols
• Maintain excellent driving skills and comply with transportation rules and regulations
• Follow specific routes or schedules using GPS technology, adjusting routes as necessary for unexpected road closures or hazards
• Inspect and maintain vehicles for safe operation, keeping daily logs of stops, mileage, and passengers
• Report all-traffic violations and traffic accidents promptly to supervisor
• Assist consumers in shopping, encouraging healthy options, and ensuring receipts are obtained and turned into the Consumer Representative Payee
• Aid consumers in adhering to purchase requests and maintaining institutional policies and procedures
• Document in a timely manner according to AltaPointe Policy, documenting appropriate, complete, and comprehensive notes
• Operate with courteous and respectful attitudes towards consumers, visitors, and co-workers
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities and follow policies and procedures

Clinical Record Keeping

• Document in a timely fashion per AltaPointe Policy
• Document appropriate, complete, and comprehensive notes
• Write legibly with attention to spelling, grammar, and content

Supervision and Consultation

• Seek clinical supervision and consultation as needed
• Employ suggestions for improvement
• Enhance clinical and leadership skills

Administrative and Other Related Duties

• Participate in Performance Improvement activities
• Complete tasks in a timely manner
• Follow policies and procedures

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of 5 to 10 minutes, with extended periods of pacing with the consumer
• Occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side
• An occasional need to assume a full squat/lunge from a standing position
• Maintain back extension while being on stomach with one’s own body weight on hips and legs for several minutes
• Occasionally kneel and reach to the same side toward the floor
• Occasionally kneel and place one’s own body weight on one knee and one elbow on the same side
• Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds from the floor to various levels, including from floor to overhead
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to assist in activities of daily living, as required
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds from the floor to the waist
• Strong grasp needed to use keys to open doors throughout the facility and maintain contact with a consumer during a restraint procedure or with other hold techniques
• Pushing/pulling force up to 25 pounds occasionally during shift
• Occasionally ambulate in a quick manner (jog/run) for distances up to 50 feet
• Carry up to 15 pounds various distances throughout the facility
• Occasionally climb step ladders to retrieve medical records that are on higher shelves
• Fine manipulation/dexterity needed to handle medical records and complete documentation
• Activities may dictate physical requirements for playing or games, depending on location

Minimum Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Be at least age 23 and maintain a valid verifiable driver license with a clear driving record
• Within six (6) months of employment, attain knowledge in mental health service provision, including appropriate ways to interact with the population served, safety procedures, crisis intervention techniques, and Mobile County and surrounding areas
