About the role
This position will work outside on an active construction site. As part of the construction management team, you'll serve an integral role in the firm by observing the work of contractors to determine the progress and quality of work on construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a highly complex technical assignment in field surveying and construction layout
- Make and check engineering computations, inspect construction work, and conduct field tests
- Coordinate and manage junior inspectors
- Review and interpret contract documents to determine if the contractor’s work is in compliance
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of the contractor’s daily operations and significant events affecting the work
- Perform sampling and field testing of component materials and completed work
- Direct, guide, and mentor junior inspectors
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Seven years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in construction inspection, including exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
- A degree in civil engineering
- Materials sampling/testing certifications
- A valid driver's license, insurable, and able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites
- A passion for working outside and a tolerance for exposure to the elements
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills
- The ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others
