Job Summary:
The Transportation Supervisor at McKesson Medical-Surgical Inc. is responsible for overseeing and optimizing daily transportation operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of medical-surgical products while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company standards. This role involves leading a team of drivers and logistics personnel, managing routes, and resolving transportation-related issues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and motivate a team of drivers and logistics staff, conducting performance reviews and fostering a positive work environment.
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily transportation routes and schedules to ensure efficient and timely delivery of medical-surgical products to customers and facilities.
- Optimize fleet utilization, including vehicle maintenance scheduling, fuel management, and adherence to DOT regulations.
- Monitor and analyze transportation metrics, such as delivery times, fuel consumption, and driver performance, to identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate and resolve transportation-related issues, including delayed deliveries, damaged goods, and customer complaints, in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including FMCSA and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with warehousing, inventory, and customer service departments to ensure seamless order fulfillment and delivery processes.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, vehicle maintenance, and delivery documentation.
- Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all transportation personnel.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software for route planning, tracking, and reporting.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires 3+ years of subject matter experience including exhibiting leadership capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation supervision or a related logistics role, preferably within a medical-surgical or similar distribution environment.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, including HOS, vehicle maintenance, and driver qualification requirements.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical products and distribution processes is a plus.
