About the role
The Transportation Specialist is a results-driven Sales Agent responsible for developing, managing, and growing a book of business within the transportation sector. This role focuses on providing tailored insurance solutions for trucking companies, logistics providers, and related businesses.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of transportation-focused prospects, including trucking companies, owner-operators, and logistics firms.
- Generate new business through outbound calls, referrals, networking, and industry relationships.
- Assess client risk exposures and recommend appropriate insurance solutions, including Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto, General Liability, and Umbrella policies.
- Prepare and present quotes, proposals, and coverage comparisons to clients.
- Negotiate terms with carriers and processing to secure competitive coverage and pricing.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to binding coverage and onboarding.
- Maintain and grow an existing book of business through renewals, cross-selling, and upselling opportunities.
- Stay current on transportation industry trends, regulations, and insurance market changes.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (processing, service, and claims) to ensure a seamless client experience.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance sales, with a focus on transportation or commercial lines preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong understanding of transportation risks, including DOT regulations, fleet operations, and driver exposures.
- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing book of transportation business.
- Experience working with trucking, logistics, or fleet-based clients.
- Familiarity with agency management systems (e.g., EPIC, Salesforce, or similar platforms).
