Transportation Services Representative 1 (Limited Duration)
About the role
The Transportation Services Representative 1 (Limited Duration) position at the Oregon Department of Transportation's Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) Field Services Group / East Region in Pendleton assists the public with various DMV services including driver license applications, vehicle registration, and permit issuance.
Responsibilities
- Assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates.
- Administer knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers.
- Ensure correct fees are collected and provide information about regulations and policies.
- Administer behind-the-wheel drive tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
Requirements
To qualify, applicants must have two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone, providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures; three months experience collecting money and making change; and completion of an associate’s degree substituting for one year of the public contact experience. Driving is an essential function of this position, requiring a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.
Qualifications
- Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.

Benefits
This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end within 1 year from the date of hire. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. This position has the potential to become permanent.
Pay
The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
