About the role

Pavilion of Ottawa is seeking a Transportation Services team member to safely transport facility residents to and from appointments, provide quality customer service, and help set the tone for the level of care residents receive while operating the facility vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform miscellaneous errands, including carrying mail to and from the post office
• Transport patients to doctor’s offices and other activities
• Drive patients to preferred providers for emergency treatment
• Ensure protected health information is kept confidential
• Report complaints made by residents to supervisor
• Follow established safety policies and procedures
• Observe safety needs of residents as indicated in care plan
• Attend and participate in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Current operator’s license required
• Safe driving record and ability to assist residents with entering and exiting the facility vehicle
• Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
• Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
• Ability to lift 50 pounds with frequent sitting and operating of hand and foot controls
• May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Previous chauffeur’s experience preferred
• Ability to obtain a CPR certification preferred
