Transportation Project Quality Manager

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor QM needs for Area projects/programs
  • Work with Program/Project Managers to assess and incorporate lessons learned and client feedback from project reviews and client meetings
  • Report production risk areas to the Program/Project Manager and Regional Quality Director
  • Provide internal and external project reporting on quality-related activities, issues, and corrective actions
  • Verify adequacy of project quality activities
  • Establish project quality processes and monitor implementation and effectiveness of those processes
  • Maintain quality schedule and ensure coordination between design discipline reviews
  • Manage quality review and comment resolution process (schedule meetings with reviewers, negotiate mutually acceptable resolutions, escalate disputed issues, and track open comments to closure)
  • Avoidance of issues that may cause, or contribute to, deviations from planned/expected outcomes and develop corrective action plans to address issues
  • Oversee subconsultant quality activities and deliverable review; audit subconsultant quality activities as appropriate
  • Support project conformance reviews in accordance with company QMSS
  • Verify that project teams have team members with right experience and capability
  • Lead QA/QC-related discussions during project team meetings
  • Manage the quality efforts for a multi-disciplinary team with subconsultants contributing significantly to the overall design package
  • Manage a metric-driven quality program with significant, formal client involvement and project auditing
  • Avoidance of typical for projects with construction value generally in the range of $50M to $500M

Additional Activities

  • May be requested to develop and manage an independent QMS for JV or mega-projects
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects, programs, or tasks
  • Manage and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Serve as a PIC, Project Sponsor, Client Manager for select projects and clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Certification to applicable country quality management professional certification (e.g., ASQ CMQ/OE, CQA, CQE)
  • Experience with Transportation Clients based in the Mid-Atlantic Market, such as VDOT, DDOT, WMATA, MDOT, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years in similar consulting industry and at least 8 years in specific technical area covered
  • Deep understanding of QMS fundamentals
  • Proven skills in the areas of Project Management and/or Quality Management projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication with investigative interview experience and project QM software systems

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Fulton, Maryland: $106,568 - $152,240; Washington, DC: $116,256 - $166,080

About the Role

The Senior Project Quality Manager will serve as member of project team that assists in the development and maintenance of project-specific Quality Management Plans and works in close cooperation with the Program/Project Manager and discipline leads for monitoring and oversight of project quality activities.
