About the role
The Transportation Project Manager oversees assigned projects, develops scopes, schedules, fees, and project plans, and manages client relationships from inception to completion. This role is available in Western, Central, and Southern Minnesota, and is part of a 100% employee-owned company committed to excellence and community service.
Responsibilities
- Oversees assigned projects to ensure they meet scope, schedule, and budget
- Develops the scope of work, schedule, and fee for each project in coordination with Production Group Leaders
- Distributes a Project Work Plan to the project team
- Understands and communicates client's expectations and objectives for the project
- Prepares qualification/proposal submittals and presentations to clients
- Maintains financial project management system and monitors assigned projects
- Sets up and secures funding with State and Federal agencies, if required
- Provides daily guidance and answers questions to the project team
- Monitors and ensures prompt delivery and payment of client invoices
- Coordinates with leadership to review project profitability, billings, collections, and project-specific client/quality issues
- Serves as a trusted advisor to clients
- Works collaboratively with Business Development to obtain new clients and work
- Travels for project coordination, as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state where the office is located or ability to obtain registration within six months
- 5+ years of experience in the civil engineering field
- Understanding of engineering contracts
- Ability to prepare engineering records and write concise technical reports
- Ability to supervise and lead project teams to successfully execute engineering projects
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines
- Understanding of other engineering disciplines
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and insurability
