Transportation Project Designer
Position Purpose
The Transportation Project Designer provides technical design support to the Project Manager by preparing layouts, detailed drawings, diagrams, and related project documentation using specialized design software. This role contributes to the development of project deliverables, assists with technical tasks, and collaborates with project team members to support successful project execution. Designers in this role primarily work on transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, roundabouts, bridges, and related civil infrastructure improvements. The position supports the planning, design, and production of construction plans for projects that enhance community transportation systems and safety.

Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited college or vocational-technical school in a related field plus approximately 5–15 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with CAD and market-specific design software, MicroStation and InRoads experience preferred, OpenRoads experience a plus
- Familiarity with transportation design standards and agency requirements (DOT, municipal, or parish standards)
- Working knowledge of agency requirements within the applicable market
- Proficiency with computer systems and related software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical work
- Effective written and verbal communication skills

Support the project team in meeting quality, schedule, and budget requirements. Assist in completing project tasks according to established timelines. Maintain current knowledge of equipment, techniques, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Participate in training and professional development activities.
