Transportation Planner

Position Purpose: Continuously monitor transportation activities to successfully achieve desired service level and company goals, while reducing. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Duties, Tasks, And Responsibilities: Ensure on-time and accurate transportation planning for all outbound and inbound package movementsDevelop and sustain carrier relationshipsProvide daily management of transportation operationsEvaluate and implement continuous improvement on freight service and freight costDevelop operational metrics and report on freight costsBecome the key point of contact for SAP-TM responsibilitiesCoordinate with production planning, sales, customer service and terminals to achieve on-time service resultsReview new carriers and rate competitiveness Education, Skills And Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain or equivalent qualified experience.A minimum of 2 years Transportation experience focusing on carrier sourcing or operationsIndustry experience preferred: Automotive, Retail, Carrier, or 3PL. Experience in LTL, TL, and Intermodal carriers desiredProficient in MS-Office and SAPHazardous materials certification desiredStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and identify trendsHigh degree of integrityKnowledge of transportation laws, freight tariffs, and distribution methodsSelf-motivated.
