Transportation Intern - Ohio (Spring 2027)

About the role

Join us for a full-time (40 hours/week) Transportation Engineering Internship in our Ohio offices (Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, or Cleveland) for Spring 2027 (January–May 2027). This internship offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment, working alongside Woolpert’s infrastructure teams on a variety of transportation projects, including traffic, roadway and pedestrian facilities, bridges and structures, and transportation planning. These projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the industry-leading Transportation team.
• Gain real-world experience on actual projects alongside licensed engineers who are experts in their fields.
• Assist on a variety of projects, including analysis, design, plan production, and cost estimation.
• Use industry-leading applications such as Civil 3D and OpenRoads Designer, alongside discipline-specific programs that aid in design.
• Collaborate as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams, external subconsultants, and clients.
• Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.

Requirements

• Enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or a civil-adjacent degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional multitasking and time management skills.
• Willingness and openness to learning.
• Located in Ohio near one of our offices or willing to relocate at your own expense, as this position requires at least 2 days/week in the office.

Pay

Base pay range: $23 – $27 USD per hour, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
