About the role

Join us for a full-time (40 hours/week) internship experience in Spring 2027 (January–May 2027) that offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment alongside ample opportunities for professional and personal growth. We are seeking multiple Transportation Engineering Interns in our Ohio offices (Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland).

The Transportation Engineering Intern will work alongside Woolpert’s infrastructure teams on a variety of projects across the transportation spectrum, including traffic, roadway and pedestrian facilities, bridges and structures, and transportation planning. These projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.

Applicants must already possess work authorization in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the industry-leading Transportation team.
  • Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside licensed engineers who are experts in their fields.
  • Assist on a variety of projects performing analysis, design, plan production, and cost estimation.
  • Use industry-leading applications such as Civil 3D and OpenRoads Designer, alongside discipline-specific programs that aid in design.
  • Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams, external subconsultants, and clients.
  • Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
  • Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or a civil-adjacent degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional multitasking and time management skills.
  • Ready and open to learning.
  • Located in Ohio near one of our offices or willing to relocate at your own expense, as this position requires at least 2 days per week of in-office time.

Pay

Base pay range: $23 – $27 USD per hour, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
