Multiple permanent, full-time hybrid positions available in Shasta County with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
About the role
Under the direction of the Senior Transportation Engineer for Traffic Engineering & Operations, the incumbent participates in electrical design and project engineering. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for project development and encroachment permit projects involving electrical facilities, providing technical support during construction, and preparing project documents such as expenditure authorizations, survey requests, project reports, and cooperative agreements.
Pay
- Range A: $6,488.00 - $7,735.00 per month (new hires start at the minimum salary)
- Range B: $7,428.00 - $9,296.00 per month
- Range C: $8,896.00 - $11,131.00 per month
- Range D: $9,712.00 - $12,152.00 per month (requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Electrical) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers)
Requirements
- Review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification.
- If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Electrical in-person written hurdle exam, do not take the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Contact the exam unit at askexams@dot.ca.gov for additional information.
- For clarification on the education requirement, contact the Human Resources Contact prior to taking the online Training and Experience Evaluation.
- Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) exam. New candidates must be on the state examination list to be eligible.
- Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Electrical) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.
- If basing eligibility on education, include unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency report evaluation from a NACES or AICE approved agency.
- Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
