Transportation Engineer 5
About the role
Helps lead the development of large-scale transit and urban mobility infrastructure projects, including mass transit systems, complete streets, and multimodal transportation networks, delivering engineering designs from basic to high complexity that exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signs off on completed designs.
- Safeguards firm policies and practices on all designs.
- Signs and seals engineering designs as necessary.
- Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
- Updates design requirements as necessary.
- Inspects new construction and existing transportation structures as necessary.
- Participates in proposal development efforts in collaboration with sales, translating client needs into compelling technical solutions.
- Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
- Makes presentations to current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
- Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
- Provides expert technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and project teams.
- Mentors and directs junior engineers on project assignments to ensure quality and accelerate their professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 7 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

- Applied knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).
- Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).

The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Pay
Pay Range: Min USD $95,846.00 Pay Range Max USD $167,731.00
