The Transportation Design Practice Lead - Florida position is part of Benesch, a growing, multi-disciplined planning, engineering, and professional services firm. We enhance infrastructure and communities across the country, focusing on transportation design services.
Responsibilities
- Shape the next chapter of Florida's Transportation Design practice by influencing strategy, developing future leaders, and strengthening relationships with transportation agencies.
- Leverage relationships, expertise, and vision to expand Benesch's transportation design presence and open doors to new opportunities.
- Build and develop a high-performing design team while fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, accountability, and leadership development.
- Lead the evolution of Florida's Transportation Design practice, transforming a strong foundation into a premier transportation program recognized throughout the state.
- Leave a lasting impact on both the business and the communities we serve by shaping the future direction of transportation infrastructure and influencing the legacy Benesch creates.
Requirements
- A proven transportation design leader with a track record of growing client relationships, winning meaningful work, and driving long-term business growth within the public sector transportation market.
- A strategic and collaborative leader capable of balancing business development, project delivery, and people leadership while mentoring teams, developing future leaders, and building a culture of accountability and excellence.
- A builder energized by the opportunity to shape the future of a growing transportation design practice, expand market presence, create new opportunities, and leave a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
- A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline and an active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 15+ years of progressive transportation engineering and leadership experience supporting FDOT, counties, municipalities, and other public sector transportation agencies.
- Demonstrated success in pursuing, winning, managing, and delivering roadway design, transportation engineering, traffic engineering, and multidisciplinary transportation projects.
- Strong business development, project management, financial management, and client relationship experience.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.

- Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex transportation projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of transportation design standards, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Passion for contributing to the development of sustainable and efficient transportation systems.
