About the role

DonorConnect is looking for a part-time Transportation Coordinator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is a natural delegator, works well independently and collaboratively, has a background in driving or courier services, and is open to working a variety of shifts. This position is for weekend evenings working from 7pm-7am on call for a total of 24 hours each week. DonorConnect is a federally designated nonprofit community service organization dedicated to the recovery of organs, tissues, and eyes for life-saving transplants.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with on-call organ and tissue donation coordinators, providing critical transportation services, including the transport of organ personnel, biological samples, and supplies
  • Perform fleet maintenance and vehicle upkeep
  • Assist the supervisor with projects and reports as needed
  • Complete all assigned on-call shifts as scheduled

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Chauffeur's license required within 90 days of employment
  • Minimum 5 years of routine driving experience
  • Excellent driving record
  • Previous courier experience preferred

  • Awareness of the fastest routes to hospitals, labs, and airports
  • Awareness of types of transportation needs for DonorConnect tissue and organ cases

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
  • Exposure to patient elements including communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other common hazards of a clinical setting
  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to changing timelines
  • Tech-savvy, with ability to use digital systems for communication, tracking, and documentation
  • Maintain a valid driver's license, TSA registration, and other required licenses/certifications
