About the role

This position acts as a transportation coordinator to help Intermountain Healthcare achieve its mission through the timely and efficient delivery of items. The coordinator functions in at least one of five areas as assigned: Dispatch, Training, Vehicle Maintenance, Administrative and Logistics.

Schedule

PRN, 24+ hours a week. Covers Monday-Friday shifts 9:00am-5:30pm.

Responsibilities

Responsible to perform one or more of the following:

  • May act as a dispatcher to coordinate driver activities to fulfill the needs of customers by receiving incoming calls from customers and other stakeholders and appropriately assigning drivers to meet those needs.
  • May coordinate and participate in training with individual and small groups of employees, teaching and reinforcing department procedures. Provides feedback to employees and managers to improve individual and department performance.
  • May coordinate the maintenance and repair of vehicles. Ensures that vehicles are safe, available and ready for drivers as necessary.
  • May coordinate and support billing, accounts payable, customer service, payroll, building scheduling, information systems, technology and compliance.
  • May coordinate day to day employee activities for regularly scheduled routes by developing employee work schedules, auditing route performance, and identifying possible improvement opportunities.
  • Acts as a back up to drivers, coordinators, and managers to ensure daily commitments to customers are fulfilled.
  • Safely operates a motor vehicle in a variety of conditions and environments to complete deliveries of equipment, packages, specimens and supplies.
  • Stays aware of conditions and circumstances that affect one's own safety or the safety of others. Protects the physical well-being of personnel and self against work related accidents, injuries or other debilitations.
  • Makes customers needs a primary focus of one's actions; shows interest in and understanding of the needs and expectations of internal and external customers; gains customer trust and respect; meets or exceeds customer expectations; shows willingness to gather and listen to customer feedback.

  • Uses a computer and related applications to accurately input, store and retrieve information relating to customers, employees and vehicles.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions
  • A DOT Medical Card
  • Valid CDL Medical Card
  • Be 21 or older as required by the DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle
  • Pass a driver's road test as required by DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle
  • Six months experience as a transportation driver with Intermountain Healthcare

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow department procedures and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with Intermountain Healthcare's Motor Vehicle Driver Policy
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic office, dispatch and email programs
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and deal with stressful situations

Pay

$21.02 - $29.72 per hour, actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
