Supervisory Duties
- Supervision and oversight of a team of inspection staff to monitor, inspect and document daily on-site construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with the contract documents and applicable state and local codes by the contractor.
- Responsible for effective communications with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work.
- Oversight and reviews of daily inspection progress reports, photographs, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- Checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variation.
- Reviews and approves records of quantities and cost of materials used.
- Reviews reports for erosion and stormwater BMP’s and controls for proper functions.
- Reviews and approves contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommended payment.

Work Environment And Physical Requirements
- Navigate active construction sites including traversing uneven, frozen, and muddy ground around possible live traffic conditions.
- Travel to and from project sites as required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in civil engineering or construction management. Other BS degrees considered.
- Proven work experience as a highway inspector or supervisor.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction standards, PennDOT specifications, and QA/QC principles.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for computing length, area, and volumes.
- Ability to utilize technology for documentation. IPAD’s and app navigation.
- Working in a collaborative and team environment.

Required Certifications
- ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade 1
- PennDOT Concrete Certification
- PennDOT Guiderail Installation, Inspection, and Maintenance Certification (preferred)
- NECEPT Concrete Field Testing Technician
- NECEPT Asphalt Field Technician
- NICET Levels II, III, or IV in Highway Construction
