About the role

This position is available in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Beaufort, SC.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect earthwork, storm drainage, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, and/or structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Perform material sampling and testing, calculations, and computations.
  • Contract documentation duties, which may include field measurements of pay items as well as other required documentation.
  • May require night and/or weekend work as dictated by client project needs.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions.
  • Skills in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • The ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications.
  • The ability to take notes and prepare or review reports, good communicative ability, and the ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
  • A willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • The ability to travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
  • Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have considerable knowledge of mathematical functions.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

HDR is looking for a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our South Carolina Transportation Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team.

This individual will inspect earthwork, storm drainage, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, and/or structures for conformance to plans and specifications.

They will perform material sampling and testing, calculations, and computations, and contract documentation duties, which may include field measurements of pay items as well as other required documentation.

Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Night and / or weekend work may be required as dictated by client project needs.
