Transportation Bus Monitor (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)

About the Role

Assist driver with student management and ensure the safety and welfare of students, including Exceptional Education students, while on the bus and at transfer sites. Must be able to operate mechanical or manual wheelchair lift on a bus and properly strap in a wheelchair inside the bus.

Requirements

• Speak, read, and write in English.
• One year of experience working with children or special education children.
• Related training or experience.

Requirements Prior to Start Date

• FBI Background Check Fingerprint.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (must be maintained current during employment).
• Post-offer/pre-employment physical exam and 50 lb. lift test.
• Post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization.
• Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department.

Schedule

• Effective: 2026-2027 school year.
• FTE: 0.75 (6 hours per day).
• Work Calendar: 9.5 month.
• Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Pay

Rates include increases funded through a community-approved override guaranteed through June 2031. Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language. For more information on the salary schedule, please reference the Employee Agreements Webpage.
