Transportation Associate
About the role
Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities, conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to company rules and regulations for safety.
- Follow and enforce safety measures and policies to all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members.
- Support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain workflow for buildings.
- Operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yards to move trailers to/from docks and parking locations.
- Learn DOT regulations and comply with company policies, procedures of those DOT regulations.
- Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
- Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks at appropriate times in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather/road conditions.
- Serve as a peer trainer and/or work at nearby site locations within the area.
- Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).
Requirements
- Valid and active driver’s license.
- High School or equivalent diploma.
- At least 21 years old.
- Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach and ascend/descend stairs.
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required.
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- English proficiency required per federal regulation.
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Completion of Career Choice Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Course.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
- Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors.

Pay
The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay.
