About the role
Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities, conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need to support Amazon’s transportation network.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety standards by following company rules and enforcing safety measures and policies.
- Support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers by performing various yard functions.
- Operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in the yard to move trailers to/from docks and parking locations.
- Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, including DOT regulations related to size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.
- Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues.
- Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks, and adhere to yard safety policies.
- Support the business on an as needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area.
- Drive, maneuver, and load/unload trucks using approved equipment such as pallet jacks.
Qualifications
- Valid and active driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 21 years old
- Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Flexible schedule/shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Can understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences
- A commitment to building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors
Pay
The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift selected. As a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
