Transportation Associate
About the role
Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities, conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need to support Amazon’s transportation network.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety standards by following company rules and enforcing safety measures and policies.
- Support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers by performing various yard functions and ensuring timely trailer movements with zero defects.
- Operate CMVs on non-public roads or in the yard to move trailers to/from docks and parking locations.
- Learn and comply with DOT regulations and company policies, including DOT regulations related to size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.
- Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and report any maintenance or delivery issues to managers.
- Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks, adhere to yard safety policies, obey traffic laws, and drive safely in all weather and road conditions.
- Serve as a peer trainer and/or work at nearby site locations as needed.
- Drive, maneuver, and load/unload trucks using approved equipment such as pallet jacks.
Qualifications
- Valid and active driver’s license
- High school or equivalent diploma
- At least 21 years old
- Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Flexible schedule/shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays
- English proficiency to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences
- A commitment to building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors
Pay
The starting pay for this position is listed below including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift selected. As a total compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
Schedule
The timing of this requirement is dependent on business need. Continuing in the position with CDL and DQF certification is contingent upon the successful completion of a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening, a DOT physical, and Amazon’s pre-employment drug test.
