About the Role

CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. The program provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low-income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments. The Migrant Head Start program offers full-day, full-year services to children, ages 0-5 years, of migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families where hand-picked and row crops are prevalent.

The Transportation and Facilities Coordinator ensures the CPLC Early Child Development (ECD) program complies with federal, state, and local transportation and vehicle safety regulations. This role oversees all ECD transportation, monitors facilities, equipment, maintenance, and inspections, and develops transportation routing plans and strategies in coordination with Regional Operations Managers and Center Service Managers. The position promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school life and success, actively supervising children by sight and sound at all times, and maintaining health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. The coordinator also facilitates health practices to keep children safe in school buses, outdoor, and indoor environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation and vehicle safety regulations.
  • Oversee all ECD transportation operations.
  • Monitor facilities, equipment, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Develop transportation routing plans and strategies in coordination with Regional Operations Managers and Center Service Managers.
  • Promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school life and success.
  • Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments.
  • Maintain health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business administration or related field.
  • Experience working in a Head Start or school-based setting, or progressive management experience in transportation/operations, purchasing/inventory, and information management for an educational or human services program environment (preferred).

Skills

  • Effective communication with staff at various levels within ECD.
  • Analytical abilities in assessing processes for regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with computers, projection equipment, software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe), and web-based systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for public interaction and collaboration with program staff.
