About the role

Transports patients, equipment, and supplies to and from nursing service units and other specific areas of the hospital. Assists professional nurses and licensed practical nurses by performing a variety of patient, unit, and environment-related duties.

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher to various areas of the hospital as assigned, making daily rounds.
  • Transports patients efficiently, safely, and courteously, preparing them according to nursing service procedures.
  • Records each transport showing time left unit, destination, and time returned to unit using the Tele tracking system.
  • Transports bodies to the morgue with care and respect for the deceased.
  • Maintains vehicles, keeping them clean and in good repair, and inspects them according to nursing service procedures.
  • Makes rounds to nursing units to serve as a messenger as requested and returns vehicles, oxygen tanks, and O2 equipment after use.
  • Performs miscellaneous service duties, including responding to call lights, communicating needs to appropriate personnel, and reporting unusual conditions.
  • Assists patients out of bed as requested and demonstrates ability to use lifting devices.
  • Responds to Code Green with the appropriate vehicle.
  • Provides competent care to patients appropriate for their individualized, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs (preferred).
  • BLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $17.57 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package. The base compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations.

Certain positions may be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, commissions, or shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend shifts.
