Transportation Aide | Long Term Care

About the role

Provides safe transportation to and from appointments, schedules resident appointments, and assists with resident care and facility activities.

Responsibilities

• Keeps track of and adheres to resident appointment schedule.
• Provides transportation to resident appointments.
• Assists residents in transfers and with paperwork needed at the appointments.
• Assists with patient care as needed; cross‑trains to aid in room turnovers, positioning, transfer and transport of patients.
• Assists with and supports patient care activities as evidenced by observation and feedback.
• Contributes to the permanent documentation of patient data.
• Encourages resident to participate in religious activities to meet their spiritual needs.
• Provides and maintains a safe and secure environment to promote optimal resident health and comfort.
• Shops for residents and/or assists residents with shopping needs.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certifications: Driver’s License (State); must obtain Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – SD Board of Nursing within 120 days of hire (per SD 44:74:02:03).
• Work Experience: 1+ years of related experience.
• Preferred Education: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies.
• Preferred Experience: 1+ years of Long Term Care experience.

Qualifications

• Physical Requirements: Heavy work – exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67‑100% of the time), up to 50 pounds frequently (34‑66%), up to 100 pounds occasionally (up to 33%), and up to 100 pounds seldomly to move objects.
• Scheduling Requirements: Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.

Pay

Starting Pay Rate Range: $18.99 – $21.83 per hour (determined by the knowledge, skills, and experience of the applicant).

Schedule

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Shift: Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
