Transportation Aide - Full Time - Night

Responsibilities

• Transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher to various areas of the hospital as assigned
• Makes daily rounds
• Transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher efficiently, safely and in a courteous manner
• Prepares patient for transport according to nursing service procedure
• Records each transport showing time left unit, destination and time returned to unit using Tele tracking system
• Transports bodies to the morgue, exhibiting care and respect for the deceased
• Maintains vehicles keeping them clean and in good repair
• Inspects and cleans vehicles according to nursing service procedure as directed by supervisor
• Makes rounds to nursing units to serve as messenger as requested
• Returns vehicles and oxygen tanks & O2 equipment when completed with transport of patient
• Performs a variety of miscellaneous service duties
• Responds to call lights promptly, communicates needs to appropriate personnel
• Reports all unusual conditions
• Assists patients out of bed as requested and demonstrates ability to use lifting devices
• Responds to Code Green with appropriate vehicle
• Provides competent care to patients appropriate for the individualized, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs for the ages of those patients serviced
• Performs other duties as requested

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Preferred High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS required or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment
