Transportation Aide / CNA

About the role

The Transportation Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant delivers direct care to residents and patients in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and life care standards in the health and rehabilitation center (skilled nursing home). The Transportation CNA will assist residents with transporting to doctors’ appointments, activities of daily living, personal hygiene and mobility, prioritizing their wellbeing and ensuring they maintain dignity and independence.

Major Responsibilities

• Transporting residents to doctors’ appointments
• Caring for the personal needs, safety, and comfort of residents
• Assisting residents with activities of daily living including wardrobe, personal hygiene, and mobility
• Aiding in daily tasks such as use of telephone, laundry, transportation, and mail delivery
• Performing light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
• Providing medication reminders
• Observing and reporting changes in residents’ condition and status
• Conducting rounds to monitor for hazards or incidents
• Assisting in dining including escorting residents to dining room, serving, and clean up
• Providing companionship and conversation
• Performing other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age
• Completion of a state-approved CNA certified nursing assistant certification course
• Ability to read and communicate at an adequate level to essential job duties
• Ability to treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect
• Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
• Caregivers must complete new hire orientation
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
