Job Purpose
The Transportation Administrative Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the transportation department and ensuring smooth operations for student transportation services. This position provides administrative support to the Transportation Coordinator and bus operators, assists with HR-related tasks such as recruiting and onboarding new bus operators, manages payroll for bus operators at the school level, and supports purchasing and invoice processing for transportation services.
How You Will Impact Education
- Serves as a point of contact for bus operators and offers administrative and logistical support.
- Maintains accurate records of routes, schedules, and driver assignments.
- Utilizes transportation software to plan and optimize routes and manage student ridership data.
- Supports communication between transportation staff, school leadership, and parents when necessary.
Required Qualifications And Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of administrative experience, preferably in transportation or school operations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

- Comfortable interacting with staff at all levels.

Work Environment
School-based with occasional visits to transportation sites or other schools.
Physical Demands
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Sitting for extended periods; vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
