About the role
The Transport Tech is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to and from the various testing areas and nursing units within the medical center.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from testing areas and nursing units, operating designated elevators to ensure courteous, safe, and timely transport.
- Effectively communicate all stages of transport to designated dispatcher; communicate effectively with ancillary areas, nursing, department personnel, patients, and guests.
- Report all issues pertaining to inability to efficiently transport patients to designated dispatcher (delay management).
- Immediately communicate to management regarding issues involving customer satisfaction.
- Immediately report all unsafe equipment to management; use safe practices to protect patients, visitors, or coworkers; report any unsafe practices to management.
- Practice safe and effective use of all transport equipment; continuously prioritize patient safety.
- Transport all patients in a timely manner; attend all required in-services and staff meetings.
- Abide by all department and hospital policies and procedures; receive direction from lead, supervisor/coordinator, and director.
- Demonstrate initiative and creativity to continuously improve services, departmental and interdepartmental processes, and other quality-affecting activities.
- Work effectively with transport team members; deliver customer-oriented and cost-effective care; maintain defined productivity levels.
- Understand and follow all hospital HIPAA policies and procedures; maintain patient and guest privacy at all times during transport.
- Stock surgical supplies, assist in room turnover, and check surgical case carts.
Qualifications
- Preferred: GED/High School Diploma
Pay
Salary Range: $16.94 - $19.28 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
