Duties & Responsibilities
- Loads, secures, transports, and delivers, and unloads propane / petroleum to and from specified destinations.
- Inspects transport vehicle and notifies supervisor of needed equipment, supplies, or routine maintenance.
- Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulations and company procedures.
- Operates truck in accordance to established safety procedures.
- Engages in daily interaction with customers and provides exceptional customer service by supplying service information and answering inquiries.
- Requires mandatory weekend work.
- Safeguards all DOT requirements at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
- Class A, CDL license with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsement required
- 2-year Hazmat hauling experience preferred
- TWIC Card required
- Must pass Industry Certification Training (PEP)
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Class A CDL driver’s license with Haz Mat & Tanker Endorsement
- Driving record with under 2 points
- Experience driving a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states
- Experience loading and unloading cargo
- Experience taking orders for new deliveries
- Experience filling up on fuel, cleaning truck, and washing windows
- Experience reporting to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
- Experience monitoring road conditions and watching for traffic congestion
- Experience following all applicable traffic laws
- Experience inspecting trailer before and after the trip, and recording any defects found
- Experience following accident procedures if an accident occurs
- Experience keeping a log of activities
- Experience reporting serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
- Experience keeping truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order
- Experience planning routes using maps or satellite tracking
- Experience taking rest periods during trip
- Experience transporting hazardous materials
- Experience taking special precautions while driving
- Experience buying or leasing trucks from other companies
- Experience finding and keeping clients
- Experience maintaining log of trips
