Who we are looking for

This is primarily a Philadelphia role. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated professionals with at least three years of Critical Care/Trauma experience as an RN with a valid active license or six years as an EMT-P certification or Diploma with management or teaching experience.

Requirements

- Should live within a 40-mile radius of the metro Philadelphia area - At least three years experience in critical care/trauma, clinical environment working in the capacity of Registered Nurse or six years as a Paramedic with leadership and/or teaching experience. - Certification in ACLS or PALS preferred. - Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions. - Must be able to drive to any hospital within the Gift of Life service area.

Responsibilities

The Transplant Coordinator will coordinate the entire organ and tissue donor process, including timely on-site response, clinical assessment, clinical evaluation, and clinical management of the potential donor. The TC will consistently work in partnership with the health care team to provide the utmost respect and compassion to the donor and the donor's family while coordinating the entire donation process. - After graduating from a robust 4-6 month (at minimum) orientation schedule, TCs rotate 48-hour call to respond to the referrals of potential organ donors from hospitals within the GLDP service area as indicated by individual hospital needs, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. Call is followed by 4 days of non-call with a varied schedule of workdays and off days. - Evaluate potential organ donors based on current and past medical and social history and coordinate organ and tissue referrals. - Discuss donation options with family members and obtain authorization. - Obtain or verify that all appropriate consents, clearances, and documentation have been obtained from the donor family, donor hospital, administration, attending physicians, and medical examiner/coroner. - Medically manage potential organ donors to maintain adequate organ perfusion and oxygenation. - Allocate donated organs, coordinate all transportation arrangements as necessary, to facilitate the arrival and departure of the organ and tissue recovery team; and ensure that all organs are appropriately labeled, necessary paperwork is completed. - Coordinates all aspects of organ donation in collaboration with area hospitals and transplant teams. - Support educational programs and develop relationships with health care leaders. - Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, and workshops required by the Transplant Coordinator department.
