ACRT is seeking energetic, experienced professionals who enjoy working outdoors for our Transmission Utility Arborist position. This role is ideal for entry-level and seasoned professionals with an educational background in rangeland management, forestry, horticulture, natural resources, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines, and with experience in these fields.

About the role

This position is ideally located in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area and adjacent regions, with required travel to other areas as necessary. Arborists perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of vegetation and brush along utility lines, submit inspection results to clients with recommendations, plan and coordinate clearance crew activities, negotiate line-clearance crew access, and serve as a liaison between clients, work crews, and customers. Responsibilities also include real-time crew checks, estimating, scheduling, and setting up work for contractors.

Requirements

  • 2- or 4-year degree in Rangeland Management, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field OR 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or a related field (e.g., general Right-of-Way management, Integrated Vegetation Management, nursery work, or timber cutting)
  • Vegetation management experience preferred
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
  • Self-motivated, organized, and production-oriented
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a geographical area for vegetation-related activities
  • Ability to work with stakeholders, utility customers, and line-clearance vendors; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (nights and weekends as needed)
  • Able to hike for lengthy periods to access lines throughout the region
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to drive long distances in a company vehicle
