About the role
Cianbro's Transmission & Substation Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of high-voltage transmission and substation projects, ensuring they meet technical, safety, and budgetary requirements.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop detailed project plans focusing on scope, schedule, and cost; lead teams through conceptual design, procurement, and construction phases
- Team Coordination: Manage multidisciplinary teams including engineering, land, environmental, legal, regulatory, procurement, and construction resources
- Budget & Schedule Management: Control project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure adherence to timelines; prepare RFPs to source engineering, survey, geotechnical, and construction services
- Risk Management: Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies; provide regular progress, issue, and risk updates to management
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure projects meet regulatory, environmental, and safety standards; uphold company safety pledges
- Stakeholder Communication: Notify stakeholders promptly if budget, schedule, or risk thresholds are exceeded
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Experience: 3+ years managing electric power projects, preferably with high-voltage transmission lines, cables, and substations
- Skills: Strong project management, scope/schedule/cost control, risk assessment, and documentation abilities; ability to travel (often 25%)
- Certifications: PMP or similar project management certification is often preferred
